Senator Fran Pavley Speaks at the Central Coast Sustainability Summit
Senator Fran Pavley gave the opening keynote address at the ninth annual Central Coast Sustainability Summit that took place at the University of California, Santa Barbara on October 16th. The Summit gathered key players from local institutions and governing agencies to discuss common sustainability issues, share best practices, and establish new partnerships.
Senator Pavley gave a general overview of California’s climate policies and shared about the importance of building coalitions. In line with the Summit’s vision, her remarks helped inspire action on complex environmental issues in the Central Coast region. The event also included discussions on revolving energy funds, pathways to zero net energy, and the Senator’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act.
The Summit was organized by partners from the Community Environmental Council; the Cities of Goleta, Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, and San Luis Obispo; the County of Santa Barbara; Ventura County Regional Alliance; and the University of California, Santa Barbara.
